Wellness and Preventive Care that Secures the Health of Your Pet

Luna asking to be petted

Unlike humans, pets cannot communicate any aches and pains they may be experiencing. That is why it is extremely important to prioritize wellness and preventive care to help your pet live a long and healthy life. Bringing your pet for a routine wellness exam can help your veterinary team detect illnesses or issues at their earliest stage. This ensures they receive immediate treatment when necessary. Routine wellness exams can also help establish a baseline for your pet, so any changes in future visits can help your veterinarian quickly diagnose any problems and establish a plan of action.

Your Family Veterinarian recommends 2 yearly exams (an annual exam and a booster exam) for adult cats and dogs. Below is what we cover during these visits:

  • Physical exam
  • Blood work
  • Urinalysis
  • Required vaccines
  • Heartworm testing and prevention
  • Flea and tick prevention
  • Fecal examination
  • Diet and nutritional needs
  • Feline leukemia (FeLV) and FIV test (For cats)

Additionally, we also discuss the appropriate nutrition for your pet’s specific needs during these visits.

We Offer Microchipping To Reduce Stress and Pain

Microchipping is not only a convenient means to reunite with your pet during loss or separation, but can also serve as an alternative to the rectal temperature check up that typically takes place to check your pet’s temperature. A simple scan of your pet can easily read your pet’s body temperature, and remove the need for the traditional way of taking your pet’s temperature through a rectal thermometer, which can sometimes cause discomfort or stress.
